The Protector's Memorial was purchased by the FOP Lodge #99 in 2000 as a tribute to the area police officers that died in the line of duty. The memorial is located in front of the Hall Of Justice main entrance in downtown Muskegon. The cost of the memorial was nearly $80,000 dollars but no public money was used for the purchase or installation. The lodge was granted an interest free loan by the County Of Muskegon and was paid off 5 years early at the 2014 Police memorial Service. In 2016, the statue was refinished and moved next to the new jail.
