Our lodge is named in honor of Muskegon Detective Hammond
who was shot and killed after arresting a man for possessing a counterfeit bill. He asked the man to return to the station with him and as they did
the man attempted to flee. As Detective Hammond gave chase the suspect
turned and fired upon him. Wounded, Detective Hammond continued the chase,
ending with the shooting of the suspect. Mortally wounded, Detective Hammond
died on October 31, 1925. He had been a thirteen year veteran of the
Muskegon Police Department and left behind a wife and four children.
Today our lodge is very busy supporting local police
officers and their families through our many events and activities. We have a beautiful facility located on Twin
Lake with a lodge facility having a capacity of 200 people with an exquisite view of the lake. Our
lodge is also very active supporting area youth and sports programs in Muskegon
County.
